The Korean Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1965 and has established itself to be the leading chamber orchestra in the country. With numerous international tours and invitations, KCO has performed in nearly 1,000 concerts around the world. KCO has released 17 CDs, encompassing a wide range of repertoire, which have established a new standard of excellence in the filled of classical music.

KCO was as the 'UN Official Chamber Orchestra of Peace' through performances held at the UNESCO Center in Paris in 1999 and at the UN in New York in 2000. In 2015, KCO is progressing successful World Tour project to commemorate their 50th anniversary.

KCO plays several main concert halls in Washington D.C., Salzburg, London, Paris, Berlin Moscow, Vienna, New York, Boston, Munich, Heidelberg, Milano, Warsaw, Tokyo, Singapore, Qingdao, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Cerritos, San Diego, Toronto, Kingston, New Port etc.

Also, KCO was invited to the Rheingau Musik Festival(2007), George Enescu Festival(2011), Finland Naantali Festival(2007, 2019), Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival(Poland 2006, 2015), Italy Ascoli Piceno Festival and Carl Orff Festival(2011), Macao International Festival(2014), China Beijing NCPA May Festival(2015), Estonia International Mozart Festival(2006), Luxembourg Echternach Fes`tival(2007), Austria Chopin Festival(2016), Russia Krasnoyarsk Chamber Music Festival(2016), Germany Eckelshausener Musiktage(2019), Germany Kronberg Festival(2019).

In 2022, KCO was officially invited to the Swiss Sion Festival and plans the Mozart 46 Symphonies Project with .
